Coordination of Sandwatch in Mexico:A group called Guardarenas Mexico was established in 2015 to monitoring 4 beaches with several schools along the coast of Oxaco. In 2015 the Clean Beaches Committee of San Pedro, Mixtepec also expressed interest in Sandwatch.

Guardarenas Mexico confirm their commitment to continue Sandwatch with four schools in 2017-2018.
June 2017: Guardarenas Mexico agreed with the Directors of four schools, Juan Rulfo, Benjamín Bloom, Calmecac y Conalep in Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca, to continue Sandwatch during the 2018-2018 school year. The group are also holding talks with other municipalities to further expand Sandwatch. Read their press release re: Appointing first Ambassador

Oaxaca, Mexico joined Sandwatch in February 2016, starting its activities in Bacocho and Coral Beach located in the municipality of San Pedro Mixtepec, Oaxaca. This Program is included as part of the Work Program of the Clean Beaches Committee linked to the Certification of Bacocho Beach according to the national standard NMX-AA-120-SCFI. - Click here for full details

Rico Sea Grant College Program in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, a new group called Guardarenas Mexico started monitoring beaches along the Oaxaca Pacific coast of Mexico as part of their programme to combat climate change.

Sandwatch in Mexico
On 30 April, 2015 GOPLMSMP, announced on their official website of the social network Facebook (www.facebook.com/playaslimpiassanpedromixt) on the presence of Great Swell predicted size for the dates 02 and 03 May 2015, with the possibility of the presence of the phenomenon Swell. This phenomenon was mentioned this in the predicted date, beating expectations on the magnitude of it, which lasted three days on the coast of Puerto Escondido, leaving a lot of damage in particular in Zicatela beach and taking effect large waves on the other beaches in this town. Based on the route taken by the GO and observations the following results were obtained....please click here to see the full report and photos!
El día 30 de abril del presente año, esta GOPLMSMP, dio a conocer en su página oficial de la red social Facebook (www.facebook.com/playaslimpiassanpedromixt), sobre la presencia de Oleaje de Gran tamaño pronosticado para las fechas 02 y 03 de mayo del 2015, con la posibilidad de tener la presencia del fenómeno Mar de Fondo. Este fenómeno mencionado se vio presente en la fecha pronosticada, superando las expectativas sobre la magnitud del mismo, el cual tuvo una duración de 3
días en la costa de Puerto Escondido, dejando una gran cantidad de daños en particular en playa Zicatela y teniendo efecto de oleaje de gran tamaño en las demás playas de esta localidad.
